The Weight of Consideration
Love is found in the decisions made before you’re even in the room.
The hardest part of giving someone your heart is trusting they’ll hold it with care.
You hope they think of you in moments they never had to before. You hope that, somewhere along the way, “me” quietly becomes “we.”
Being someone’s priority has never meant asking them to love the people already in their life any less. It isn’t about replacing family, friends, or the people who shaped them. It isn’t about asking anyone to choose between the people they love.
It’s about never feeling like you’re competing for first place.
Love should never feel like a race where you’re constantly trying to prove why you deserve to be chosen. I don’t want to win against someone else. I want to know that, when decisions are made, I am naturally considered. That my presence is already built into the equation. That before plans are made or commitments are given, there is a quiet thought of, How does this affect us?
Because consideration is one of the highest forms of love.
Consideration says, I thought about you before you had to ask. It says, Your feelings matter even when you’re not in the room. It is the invisible work of love: the small pauses, the adjustments, the willingness to carry another person’s heart alongside your own. Long before flowers, vacations, or extravagant gestures, there is consideration. And without it, even the biggest acts of love can feel empty.
Love changes the shape of your inner circle.
It becomes you and them at the center, together. Then, surrounding that center are the people who matter to both of you. Your worlds don’t compete; they intertwine. Your family expands instead of divides.
That’s why it hurts when you feel like you’re always coming after everyone else. Healthy love isn’t measured by grand gestures; it’s measured by being considered. By knowing that when life pulls in a hundred directions, your partner still instinctively asks, How does this affect us?
When someone becomes your everything, their perspective begins to shape yours, just as yours shapes theirs. Influence isn’t control when it’s rooted in love. It’s choosing to let another person’s heart matter enough to change how you move through the world.
Perhaps that’s what commitment truly is: not asking someone to choose between the people they love, but knowing they have already chosen who they are building a life with. Not because everyone else matters less, but because the life you’re creating together deserves to matter just as much.
