Fire for Fire…..

Fire burns, fire destroys, but fire also has significance. We cook with fire, and gems are killed when subjected to high temperatures. Fire also warms us when we are cold.

Fire for fire: God wants us to be on fire (be hot):

I know what you have done; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. How I wish you were either one or the other! But because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am going to spit you out of my mouth! (Revelations 3:15–16)

There is fire from God, which we receive from the Holy Spirit.

I baptize you with water to show that you have repented, but the one who will come after me will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. (Matthew 3:11a)

On the day of Pentecost:

Then they saw what looked like tongues of fire, spreading out and touching each person there. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak. (Acts 2:3–4)

So believers carry fire.

There is another fire, which could be caused by the enemy (Satan) or by ourselves.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were targeted for destruction by fire.

So they tied them up, fully dressed — shirts, robes, caps, and all — and threw them into the blazing furnace. Now, because the king had given strict orders for the furnace to be made extremely hot, the flames burned up the guards who took the men to the furnace. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, still tied up, fell into the heart of the blazing fire. (Daniel 3:21–23)

Fire caused by ourselves, the rich man, and Lazarus:

So he called out, ‘Father Abraham! Take pity on me, and send Lazarus to dip his finger in some water and cool off my tongue, because I am in great pain in this fire!’ (Luke 16:24)

Fire for fire, we are in a spiritual battle: A battle against your life and your salvation. The Hebrew boys were told to bow down to the idol or face destruction by fire.

For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age. (Ephesians 6:12)

We are contending with strongholds, wicked forces, rulers, and authorities, cosmic powers of this dark age.

But Jesus gives authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions:

Listen! I have given you authority, so that you can walk on snakes and scorpions and overcome all the power of the Enemy, and nothing will hurt you. (Luke 10:19)

Fire for Fire: You are not alone.

Prayer points:

1. Pray for fire, without fire, you shall be consumed: “Now because the king had given strict orders for the furnace to be made extremely hot, the flames burned up the guards who took the men to the furnace.” (Daniel 3:22)
2. You shall escape the fire just like the Hebrew boys: They had fire, so they walked in the fire, and they were not consumed. “Then why do I see four men walking around in the fire?” he asked. “They are not tied up, and they show no sign of being hurt — and the fourth one looks like an angel.” (Daniel 3:25)
3. Victory over every battle: marital, education, finances, children, health, (Let God arise and let His enemies be scattered)
4. Pray for the Lord to send His fire down to consume your sacrifice: 1 Kings 18:38 The Lord sent fire down, and it burned up the sacrifice, the wood, and the stones, scorched the earth, and dried up the water in the trench.
5. Pray that the Lord will send down his fire to consume all who pursue you. If I am a man of God,” Elijah answered, “may fire come down from heaven and kill you and your men!” At once fire came down and killed the officer and his men. (2 Kings 1:18)
