I was driving when I saw a tent selling Christmas trees. I stopped to look. Most were 8-foot and expensive, but there was one small one left, a “Charlie Brown” tree for $30. It would look nice when decorated. I grabbed it.

A cute girl was working the checkout. She was short, Asian, slender, with a nice smile, wearing a T-shirt with a happy Santa face. I asked her if they were selling mistletoe.

“Sorry, we ran out,” she replied.

“Too bad,” I said, “I’d love to kiss you under the mistletoe.”

She laughed. “I wouldn’t kiss you under general anaesthetic!”
