Daily Promises

In 2 Corinthians 6:18, God declares: “I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” This is one of the most intimate and profound promises in Scripture. God, the Creator of the universe, does not remain distant or impersonal — He invites us into a close, loving relationship as His children.
God as Our Father

Throughout the Bible, God presents Himself as a Father to His people. He is not like an earthly father who may be imperfect or distant. Instead, He is the perfect, loving, and ever-present Father who cares deeply for His children.
In Psalm 68:5, He is called “a father to the fatherless, a defender of widows.” This means that no matter what our earthly experience has been — whether we had a loving father, an absent father, or a broken relationship — God offers to be the Father we need.
A good father provides, protects, and loves his children unconditionally. In the same way, God:
- Provides for our needs (Matthew 6:31–32)
- Protects us from harm (Psalm 91:4)
- Loves us with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3)
Adopted into God’s Family
Through Jesus Christ, we are not just servants of God — we are His children. Romans 8:15 tells us: “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by Him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’”
The word Abba is an intimate Aramaic term meaning “Daddy” or “Papa.” It signifies a close, personal relationship. When we come to faith in Jesus, we are adopted into God’s family, and we can approach Him with confidence, knowing that He hears and cares for us.
God’s Fatherly Love
God’s love as a Father is constant and unchanging. Unlike human relationships that may falter, His love is not based on our performance or worthiness. He loves us simply because we are His. 1 John 3:1 proclaims: “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”
As His children, we can trust that:
- He disciplines us for our good (Hebrews 12:6).
- He listens to our prayers (Matthew 7:11).
- He delights in us (Zephaniah 3:17).
Living as God’s Children
Knowing that we are children of God changes everything. It gives us security, identity, and purpose. We are not alone, abandoned, or forgotten — we belong to Him.
If you have ever felt unworthy, unloved, or distant from God, remember this promise: He is a real Father to you. Draw near to Him, trust Him, and let His love transform your life.
