UP pays Rs 4,500 crore to paddy farmers

In the current kharif marketing season 2024–25, the #UttarPradesh government has paid more than Rs 4,500 crore against the paddy procurement from the state farmers.

While the government has established 4,645 procurement centres to facilitate the sale of paddy at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), the payments are being directly transferred to farmers’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.

The #YogiAdityanath government is giving special emphasis to the ‘economic prosperity’ of farmers.

According to official data, nearly 1.92 million tonnes (MT) of #paddy have been procured from over 315,000 farmers.

In addition, more than 35,000 #farmers selling bajra have received payments amounting to Rs 421 crore.

In UP, the procurement of ‘Shri Anna’ (nutri-cereals) began on October 1, 2025.

The paddy procurement started from October 1 in Western UP, and from November 1 in Eastern UP.

In the #Kharif marketing year 2024–25, up to December 13, 670,000 farmers had registered for paddy sale, whereas in 2025–26 this figure has crossed 783,000.

For bajra sales, 21,630 farmers had registered by this time last year, while this year registrations have crossed 80,000.

The registrations have also higher for the jowar and maize crops.

Last year, 12,000 farmers registered for jowar sales; this year, more than 16,000 farmers have registered. Bajra procurement is taking place in 33 districts and jowar procurement in 11 districts.

The MSP for paddy is Rs 2,369 per quintal for common variety and Rs 2,389 per quintal for Grade A.

The MSP for jowar (Maldandi) is Rs 3,749 per quintal, jowar (hybrid) Rs 3,699 per quintal, bajra Rs 2,775 per quintal, and maize Rs 2,400 per quintal.
