Giving Customers More Choice and Flexibility to Deploy Hammerspace — Now with Supermicro as a Server Hardware Partner

Earlier this year, we introduced our first series of appliance reference architectures when we introduced Hammerspace software on certified Dell server hardware.
And now we are expanding on that strategy and adding Supermicro as a server hardware partner — and reseller — and introducing Hammerspace reference architectures based on Supermicro servers.
Hammerspace is now available to deploy:
- As software on bare metal,
- As VMs in a virtual environment,
- On all of the leading cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud), where Hammerspace is available in each of these marketplaces,
- AND as an appliance on either Dell or Supermicro server hardware.
Hammerspace Flexible Deployment Options

Hammerspace-Supermicro Reference Architectures
In order to further simplify the sizing and purchasing process, and to provide sample configurations that span various performance requirements and capacity points, we have defined two types of appliances that combine specific metadata servers and data servers:
- Throughput-Optimized Appliances are based on a 1U, 10-drive (1U10) server form factor, and are designed to maximize throughput per rack unit
- Flash Capacity-Optimized Appliances are based on a 2U, 24-drive (2U24) server form factor, and are designed to maximize flash capacity per rack unit
For each of these types of appliances, a small, medium, and large configuration was defined, resulting in the six configurations shown below.

*Up to throughput number is based on 200GbE networking. Performance will vary based on a number of factors.
