Fixing Stuff Around Yourself
If You are looking to start your journey on becoming a leader, then the better place to start is your own house, your room, or your surroundings.
We all have a common perception about leadership is that we can only lead when we are given full authority or control over some task. But I am going to disclose here that we can lead without authority. There are different understandings of leadership but the one I believe and discovered is that “leadership is a choice we make in everyday life.”
Small moments matter, small acts of kindness matter and this is what makes us leaders in everyday life. Leadership is not only about leading a company or managing a team of fifty people in your department. Leadership is a choice that we make every day.
To start practicing leadership without authority, I’m going to perform an activity in which I will examine my surroundings where I’m sitting right now. I will then identify things that can be fixed or improved and will improve them. I know you are very eager now after reading about this activity. So just keep patience, I’m going to share all of this with you!
Here is my bedroom where I study and attend online classes nowadays. You may notice in the following photo that my bed hasn’t been made up and all the things on the bed are scattered and in disorder.

My bedroom in a fixable state.
Now it’s time to make up my bed and arrange all the things! Here is the outcome!

My bedroom in an ideal state.
After completing this small activity, really I have good vibes, I can feel mental peace and free from distractions as all the things are well arranged. I usually make up my room and arrange all the things daily and consider it a good habit. This is one of the small acts that most of us do in our everyday life. I relate these small tasks to everyday leadership because when we can improve our surroundings, we can also lead a group of people or control any task. So the bottom line of this blog is that to become a good leader, just start practicing leadership without authority and start with your surroundings.
