This is a very quick read. There are two pieces of news to share:

  1. Another update for v8.2 has been loaded to the “— preview” command on the website. and
  2. More information about Midjourney Medical’s first hardware project.

Here is the news:

Another Update to the “Preview” Command

If you have been following the developments of the Midjourney product you may be aware that you can “preview” the beauty of the next model version before it is released by adding “dash-dash-preview” to your prompt.

If you haven’t tried it yet — It is cool!

Yesterday (Friday, July 3rd) a post popped up in the #25,000 Club channel of the Midjourney Discord server announcing a new update to the preview command.

Of course, I had to try it right away so I went to the **Create page** on the website and created a simple prompt, and then I added a style reference ID, and a seed value. (If you aren’t sure what these are — send me a response and I will explain them.)

a young woman --ar 1:1 --seed 2026070326 --sref 3076540856 --v 8.1

Notice: I added a style reference ID: 3076540856 and a seed value of 2026070326 to test Midjourney’s rendering of these features.

I used the prompt above to create 2 sets of images which are shown below. The top row uses just the prompt above to create a v8.1 group of images. The bottom row uses the text prompt plus the “preview” command to produce a group of images that uses the updated preview version of v8.2.

Here are larger versions of two of the images. The first one is the fourth image in the top row, and the second one is the first image in the bottom row.

This can be a little subjective but I feel that the image made using the preview command has more details and is more interesting to me.

I will try one more prompt for another comparison this time I will use a more descriptive text prompt but use the same seed value with a wider aspect ratio. Again the only difference between the prompts will be the addition of the preview command.

Here is the image without adding the preview command.

And here is the image made with the preview command.

Again it may be subjective and not a fair test because I do know which image is which instead of a double-blind experiment, but I do think the image made using the preview has more detail and more appeal to me.

Feel free to send me a response to this article if you feel differently.

My advice is to go online and try creating images without the preview command and then with the preview command, and then compare the two images. Let me know what you think. (Also the Midjourney team would like to hear your comments as well so send them some feedback on the ideas-and-features channel in Discord. Become part of shaping the future of the Midjourney product.)

The official release of Midjourney v8.2 could be here soon — possibly this week. Stay Tuned!

More Midjourney News — Updates for Midjourney Medical

On June 17, 2026, David Holz, founder of Midjourney announced one of the “secret” hardware projects that Midjourney has been working on — a full body Ultrasound Scanner intended for future Midjourney Spas.

This was a major surprise for Midjourney fans and enthusiasts alike! and was quite frankly “mind-blowing”. David did a quick explanation supported by images and videos of an actual working prototype that they have developed, and a roadmap of where he sees this product going.

He also shared the URL of a blog site for the project at https://www.midjourney.com/medical/blogpost. This site has a lot of information and concept video that you can view. He also announced a Discord server and a link to inquire about employment at Midjourney. Here are the links.

Since that time another blog post has appeared with more information about the development of the prototype at **On Medical Device Development (06/23/26).**

David also promised that there would be a video coming out that would be a “behind-the-scenes” view of the scanner development put together by one of the team members, Marcin Plaza, who has a lot of experience developing videos for Youtube (link to **his Youtube Channel**).

Here is the URL of the video — **https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nzzpUKhj1M**. The video is almost 19 minutes long with interviews of some of the Midjourney team and lots of explanations of they created this marvelous innovative piece of hardware.

Here are a few screen captures from the video.

David envisions the Midjourney scanner as being one of the components of a Midjourney spa where people may be able to come for regular health scanning in the future.
