Yesterday was one of those days.

I was exhausted, mentally drained, upset, and carrying a heaviness I couldn’t really explain. I was sitting in the metro, lost in my own thoughts, not expecting anything from the day.

Then a random guy stood in front of me.

The first thing I noticed wasn’t even him — it was his dressing sense. My inner voice immediately went, “Okay, he dresses really well.”

There wasn’t a conversation. Not even a single word.

Just silence.

At one point, because the metro was crowded, his shoe accidentally touched mine. Nothing unusual. Just one of those public transport moments.

But then something felt different.

When we got off at the same station, he was walking ahead of me. A few times, he looked back. At least, I felt like he did. And that’s when my brain started doing what brains do.

“Is he looking at me?”

Then immediately:

“No way. I’m not that pretty.”

So, naturally, I decided to test my theory.

I pretended my shoelace was untied and slowed down for a second.

And guess what?

He stopped too.

The moment I looked up, he acted like he wasn’t looking.

I remember thinking, “Dude, I have a boyfriend. None of this.”

But at the same time, I couldn’t help laughing internally.

Nothing happened after that.

No conversation. No exchange of names. No movie-style ending.

I simply ignored the situation, got onto another train, and never saw him again.

And honestly?

I’m glad.

Because this story isn’t really about him.

It’s about how, on a day when I felt completely off, a random stranger unknowingly made me feel good about myself.

For a brief moment, I felt attractive. I felt noticed. I felt like maybe I looked better than I thought I did.

Maybe he was looking. Maybe he wasn’t.

I’ll never know.

But whoever you are, metro stranger, thank you.

Not because I wanted anything to happen.

Not because I was interested in you.

But because on a day when I felt tired, heavy, and a little disconnected from myself, you accidentally reminded me that I can still feel confident, feminine, and beautiful.

And sometimes, a tiny moment with a stranger is enough to brighten an entire day..
