UI UX Pro Max: I tried it, here’s my take

Here’s my take on this AI skill that’s getting more and more attention. Spoiler: it has potential, but it still needs some work before becoming a truly valuable tool in a designer’s day-to-day workflow.
Before getting into it, though, it’s worth explaining what an AI skill actually is, because they’re becoming more common in AI workflows and not everyone knows what that means.
What is an AI skill and what is it for?
An AI skill is basically a set of instructions you give to your coding assistant (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf) so it better understands a specific domain. Instead of explaining the context every time, the skill loads it automatically when needed.
In other words, it’s like giving your assistant a specialized manual that it can consult in the background without you having to ask for it. For UI/UX design, this means that when you say “build a dashboard for a health app,” the assistant already knows what visual styles exist, which typographies work well together, what color palettes make sense, and which UX guidelines to apply.
If terms like GitHub or Claude Code still feel unfamiliar, it might be a good time to read why understanding some development today makes a difference as a designer — especially if you want to get the most out of new AI tools.
My experience
How to install it (and the trick I used)
UI UX Pro Max is available on GitHub and works with more than 18 different AI assistants. You can install it via CLI (command line), directly from the Claude marketplace, or by downloading the zip and adding the files to your project.
In my case, I tested it with Copilot, even though it’s more heavily promoted for Claude Code. And here’s a practical tip: since the official documentation is quite limited, I actually used Copilot itself to guide me through the installation. It works.
It’s a bit circular to use AI to install another AI, but it solves the problem.
The first thing I noticed: the name
“Pro Max.” If that sounds familiar, it’s because it is: a direct reference (or imitation, depending on how you see it) to iPhone naming. It’s a naming strategy that promises a lot before the tool has proven anything. When something starts with such an inflated name, it’s worth looking more carefully at what’s underneath.
The documentation (or lack of it)
And what’s underneath has a clear issue: documentation. The fact that I had to ask an AI how to use the tool just to understand it properly is a pretty strong signal that something is missing.
Maybe the target audience is people already experienced with Claude Code. But if a tool requires you to be familiar with the ecosystem just to get started, that’s already a UX problem in itself. Design irony.
The “50+ visual styles” that aren’t really 50+
The tool claims to offer 50+ UI styles. I tried exploring them and, honestly, there are maybe 15–20 recognizable core styles: minimalism, glassmorphism, claymorphism, brutalism, neumorphism (which almost no one uses anymore), bento grids, liquid glass (another nod to iOS)… The rest are weak variations or mixes.
The “50+” number feels like a marketing exaggeration that creates expectations the tool doesn’t meet. And in UX, we know what happens when expectations aren’t met.
What actually works (and works well)
That said, to be fair: within the styles that do work, the tool generates decent UI, and it does it fast. Faster than Figma Make or Google Stitch in my experience.
Compatibility with multiple assistants is one of its real strengths. You’re not locked into a single ecosystem, and in my case it worked perfectly fine with Copilot as well.
The skill doesn’t replace your judgment → it amplifies it. If your prompts are vague, the results will be too.
Who is this for?
I see it as a useful add-on if you already work with Vibe Coding or in workflows where code and design go hand in hand. If you’re building something in your editor and need a reasonably decent starting UI without switching to Figma Make, it has its place.
It’s not really a tool for designers working in a traditional Figma-only workflow. It’s for people already living in their editor who want to reduce the friction between “I need a UI” and “I have something to work with.”
Conclusions
Is it ready? Not quite yet
It still feels a bit early. There’s a solid foundation and real potential, but it needs more development to become genuinely valuable. Documentation needs improvement, the number of actual styles doesn’t match what’s advertised, and the entry barrier can be unnecessarily high for people without a development background.
I wouldn’t dismiss it. But I wouldn’t recommend it as an essential tool just yet.
The real limit is still human
UI UX Pro Max confirms something we already suspected: the real value of AI tools in design is not in generating layouts, but in validation and decision-making. AI can generate a UI in seconds, but for that UI to be good, someone still needs to recognize it, evaluate it, and refine it.
Knowing how to choose, what to discard, how to see differently. That doesn’t come in any skill — no matter how “Pro Max” it sounds.
