Devlog #2 — Preparing Anomaly Shift for Release

Hey everyone,

Today was a much lighter development day compared to yesterday. Instead of working on gameplay features, I spent most of my time preparing Anomaly Shift for release.

Designing the Cover Image

The first thing I worked on was the game’s cover image.

I took a screenshot from the game and brought it into Photopea. After that, I added a few effects, created a transparent overlay using another in-game screenshot, and experimented with the layout until it felt right. Finally, I added the game’s title and adjusted everything until I was happy with the result.

I’m not a graphic designer by any means, but I think it turned out pretty well and represents the game’s atmosphere much better than a plain screenshot.

Setting Up the itch.io Page

After finishing the cover image, I spent most of my time setting up the itch.io page.

Writing descriptions, uploading screenshots, choosing tags, organizing files, and making sure everything looked presentable ended up taking longer than I expected. It’s one of those tasks that doesn’t feel like game development, but it’s still an important part of releasing a game.

By the end of the day, I finally published the page.

If you’d like to check out the project or try the game yourself, you can find it here:

Not Much Development Today

To be honest, I didn’t add many new gameplay features today.

Most of my time went into presentation, polishing, and getting the game’s store page ready. It’s not always the most exciting work, but every project eventually reaches the point where it needs to be shown to the world.

What’s Next?

Tomorrow I’d like to take a short break from Anomaly Shift and work on something different.

My current idea is to create a Low Poly Street Props Pack. If everything goes well, I’d like to publish it on both itch.io and the Unity Asset Store.

It should also be a good opportunity to continue improving my Blender skills while creating something useful for other developers.

See you in the next devlog.
