My pain and suffering showed me how to be free

Thankful for the pain and suffering I have experienced For it had a purpose To shine light on my limited rigid beliefs Only when I knew limitedness I could seek freedom Now I know that I am limited. But I also know how to be free.

In my unawakened state, I believed that the pain and suffering I experienced was a punishment and that I deserved to be punished. The more I judged this pain and suffering, the more I resisted this experience, the more I tried to run away from it. But it was like a part of me showing me the mirror. It was a part of me waiting to be embraced, to be understood, to be accepted. It was chasing me to wake me up from my slumber, to shatter the illusional chains I was binding myself to. It was like I had been trapped for so long in my limited beliefs that I didn’t even know I was capable of freeing myself.

As I relished my newfound freedom, I was thankful for the pain and suffering that was important for me to see how I limited myself and how, by just knowing that I could choose freedom and my expansiveness instead.

Often, we don’t even realize that we are limiting ourselves. It is so rigidly structured in our mind, in our belief system. Breaking this structured system seems painful, as it feels like our whole identity is collapsing. Due to this fear of the illusional collapse of our structured belief system, we continue to choose the limited beliefs, as it makes us feel safer even if that system is an illusional prison for us. But our emotional pain and suffering continue to push us until it feels intolerable for us to make a different choice that frees us, and thus, we transform our identity, which we are always capable of doing. It’s just that sometimes the pain and suffering need to remind us of that.

Our limitedness has a purpose: to show us how to expand through it.
