His days roll by

His days roll by like smoking cigarettes.

The past fades, in twisted shades of gray,

remembered only in doped up eyes, shadowing his hopeful lies.

Yet to believe, he no longer tries.

He cries to the western skies,

the beautiful traitor

shedding golden rays

or’r a dark demise.

I turn again and descend

into the colorless carnival

of mysterious men.

Like souls who have lost their humanity

with faces that mockingly mirror me.

Suddenly I’m seized

by a shocking grip,

below my knees.

In awe, I stare into his innocent eyes

as his priceless smile,

ignites the skies.

Ignorance, what else could it be

to live with joy, so wild and free.

I helplessly stare

as I watch him leave,

so full of love, yet so naïve.

But he subconsciously clings

to that sad hearted scene,

as if it’s a vision,

or prophetic dream.

And so he wanders along

lost and alone

in an ocean of people

never feeling at home.

But I see your pain

and I know your name,

I’ve felt the same.

Even so,

the faith of the child

still smiles in me.

O, if you could only see in me ,

though I’m not quite so naive.

This house of clay,

that’s not complete,

I’m flawed, and I’ve failed,

I’ve faced defeat.

but it’s not that (me)

you need to meet .

You see, I’ve met a man named Jesus

and I’ll never be the same.

He is the one

that knows your name.

And like an innocent child,

through life’s worst pain,

for you and me

he took our shame.

And by our sins

was abused and maimed.

Yet through it all,

he remained the same.

Until, to the evil doors of death he came,

then took the step,

he took the Blame

so that you and I

could have a new name.

So the home we crave,

when we don’t belong,

the joy we crave,

when we’ve lost our song,

the peace we crave,

when things go wrong,

the love we need,

but never found,

and O the grace

how sweet the sound…

With precious hope,

I now abound.

O tears of joy, for Christ I’ve found!

If only you could only see,

Jesus Christ through me.
