A Story of a Missing Father’s Day.

When I lived in Russia I used to celebrate Father’s Day every year. As a matter of fact every year I would buy a card for my father and then go to see him.

A card.

A visit.

A gift.

Then I moved abroad.

Everything changed.

Distance Changes Perspective

Not being able to be near your father makes you see things in a different way.

You start remembering all the simple things that you used to take for granted.

Driving lessons.

Family dinners.

Simple conversations.

Realizing What Matters

After having moved abroad, I have come to realize that time is much more valuable than any gift.

Most parents don’t care about expensive presents.

They care about connection.

They care about hearing from you.

Appreciation Arrives Unexpectedly

The older I get the more I realize what my father was going through when I was a kid.

Responsibilities.

Bills.

Family obligations.

Sacrifices.

Things I barely noticed as a child.

Conclusion

Sometimes distance creates appreciation.

Not because being apart is good.

But because it reminds us what truly matters.
