“Los Angeles on Fire: The Mexican Protest Crisis and America’s Wake-Up Call”
Now, the American city of Los Angeles is literally burning. The situation in the city is extremely bad. It feels like pro-Mexico protesters have taken control of an entire city in the USA. Donald Trump has been forced to deploy thousands of soldiers. And if you look at social media, Americans are simply posting:
“Mexican people have literally occupied the city of Los Angeles.”
Even Donald Trump himself is saying:
“Once a great American city — Los Angeles — has now been invaded.”

Today, illegal aliens have occupied the city. Not just illegal aliens, but criminals as well.
And as an Indian, let me tell you what many Indians are saying to Americans: A few months ago, when blind racism against Indians was rampant, many Americans launched polls with this very question:
“Who would you tolerate more — illegal Mexicans or legal Indians?”
At that time, the H1B visa issue was also making headlines. As you know, many Indians go to the US to work in IT and tech jobs. And many Americans were angry, asking why Indians are coming to the US and taking their jobs. So back then, many Americans — speaking with racist undertones — said, “We’d rather tolerate illegal Mexicans than legal Indians.” In fact, 81% said this in repeated polls conducted during 2024–2025.
Well, there’s an English saying: “Be careful what you wish for.”
And now, seeing what’s happening in Los Angeles, many Americans are realizing the difference between illegal Mexicans and legal Indians. The issues that have upset illegal Mexicans are also relevant to Indians in some way. But Indians don’t take to the streets, burn cars, destroy public infrastructure, or riot and invade cities. We Indians are peaceful people. That’s why, even when faced with extreme racism, we continue to progress steadily.
Now you might ask — okay, it’s clear that many of the people involved in this chaos are from Mexico. You’ll see many flags in these protests, including Palestinian flags and others, but the majority appear to be illegal Mexican immigrants. So what’s happening? These people come to the US looking for work — why are they suddenly so angry that they’ve started destroying cars (even police cars), rioting, and causing this level of chaos?
If you look at the map — you’ll see Mexico is just below the US. Many people cross the border illegally into the US, and Los Angeles is a very famous city located relatively close to the Mexican border.
The US government has declared Los Angeles a sanctuary city — which means if someone shows up and needs a job, they’re not going to be interrogated about where they came from, or asked for proof of citizenship or documentation. As a result, many Mexicans coming to the US find some work in Los Angeles. And big businesses in LA benefit from this cheap labor.
For a while, this arrangement seemed to work. But gradually, crime started rising in LA, because among those coming from Mexico were also gangsters and criminal-minded individuals. Los Angeles eventually became a very unsafe city.
Trump addressed this issue many times during his election campaign. He said he would fix cities like LA and deport all illegal residents. And that’s exactly what he did. Trump activated ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), a US federal force that deports illegal residents.
He told them to go to LA and start rounding up and deporting those involved in criminal activities. Over time, this angered the Mexican community living there. And then Trump recently announced he would impose a 5% tax on remittances. Yes, he wants people who earn money in the US and send it to their home countries to pay a 5% tax to the US government.
Whether it’s deportations or targeting illegal immigrants, these actions have angered people. And the result? Total chaos, lawlessness, and widespread dissatisfaction. You can see the condition of police vehicles — things are really bad.
Meanwhile, a video of Mexico’s current president, Claudia Sheinbaum, has gone viral. In this video, she openly states:
“We will not tolerate taxes on remittances. Our people should have full freedom to send their money back to Mexico without any restrictions.”
She adds:
“If necessary, we will mobilize.” “We will not accept remittance taxes.” “We will stand for our compatriots in the US.”

Now, Americans are beginning to understand the difference between legal Indian immigrants and illegal Mexican immigrants. The real issue is — decency has lost its value in today’s world. People who are peaceful and come through legal channels just to work are the ones who get taxed on remittances. Governments don’t speak up for them. No one protests for them. In fact, they become targets of blind racism.
Mexicans too have shown racism towards Indians. But the people who are actually creating anarchy — those are the ones the US is failing to control. My view is simple: the priorities of the American people are flawed. They see Indians as easy targets — so they attack them online. But on the ground, on the streets, they are slowly losing their cities.
Now, no matter what Trump does — even if he sends in the military — he will not be able to completely remove all illegal immigrants from Los Angeles. And how long will Trump remain in power anyway? Two years? Four years? After that, someone else will come, and the pressure will ease.
So eventually, Americans will begin to value Indian immigrants — how much they contribute to the US, how peacefully they coexist, and how they accept even unfair rules and still move forward.
If we talk about how Trump is trying to solve this problem, his approach is simple:
“They spit — we hit.”
The protestors and rioters in Los Angeles are out of control. They’ve adopted this strategy — when police show up, they spit on them and run.
Trump’s strategy is now to retaliate strongly — if someone spits, they’ll be made an example of and beaten up. These are the scare tactics the US is now forced to adopt.
And just imagine — I truly hope a day comes when India becomes so advanced that Indians no longer need to go to the US. Let the US get its immigrants from Syria or Pakistan. Only then will they realize what the real immigration problem is.
