Ringing the bell analogy has been resounding loudest in the nation buzzed with elections claiming to be ready for a clean sweep victory will be an interesting watch for few days post March 5. The early elections shifted from 2028 to 2026 with heavy cost of 70+ innocent lives on Sept 8 2025 fighting against tyrannical government headed by KP Sharma Oli, fatherly figure of Nepali Politics often cited KP Baa by the crowd. Some netizens often called the end of an era of the old political goons when the government was overthrown within 48 hrs of Gen Z movement seized by instigators who burnt the nation. Is this true yet? I reckon not, the audacity of such shameless figures on the road contesting elections itself question the morality such that “Power blinds and corrupts people” phrase stands eminent.

Just like the fragmented world, the so called promising leaders couldn’t stand together and contest the election rather standing individually competing against parties with inception of Ujjyalo Nepal Party, Shram Sanskriti Party & many more. Respected names; Kulman Ghising, Harka Sampang,, Balendra Shah have given hopes, aspirations & even delight amongst first time voters & a flock of optimist voters who have returned back to Nepal citing to vote who could afford with time and economic terms while many foreign workers in the Gulf living with uncertainties with escalating war in the middle east.

An appeal to all Nepali voters to not get swayed by anything else other than conscience. The departed souls from Sept 8th may not forgive Nepal and the voters this time if the mistake is still repeated. Populism, influence of political elites, democratic black sliding still scrutinize the true spirit of democratic election. Listening to few election contestants, some have tired white washing the image, some have created a huge buzz, some have delivered subtle promotions yet delivered promising messages on governance with experience and proven track record.

May Sushila Karki’s government and the election commission Nepal held a clean, fair and accountable election. For me not just an ultra idealistic expectation of voting access to Nepali Diaspora across the world but would have been a great win had it been the case for Nepalis abroad to be able to vote this time. In the meantime, Karki’s government definitely falls short in publishing the report of the activities of Sept. 8 & 9 that BBC News/ Documentary features a forensic investigation publishing a report before the election showing evidence of the government records that had been accessed prior to the concerned authorities releasing it officially. Justice to those lives are still denied and an absolute mockery of promises by the prime minister chosen by the verdict given through Discord by Gen Z with mass online gathering.

“Democracy” a system that has given absolute power to the people. Well atleast to say and claim, may that power be exercised for the right, justice be delivered for all those people who have sacrificed a lot to raise hopes with the election.
