2026 Daily Affirmation #183

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10, MEV). Jesus loves us enough to provide us His name. A name holds all the authority and power of the individual it belongs to. Putting your name to something lets everyone know you are claiming responsibility for it, that you’re approving it, and that you are backing it. Laws and punishments can be administered and upheld in the name of the person or persons that issued them. This is the kind of thing available to us in Jesus’ name. He put His name in us. He approved us. He appointed us. He empowered us. He authorized us to continue doing everything that He did during His ministry — and to do it with more people in more places (possibly even doing more things). That is what His NAME is. That’s why everyone and everything must bow to it. It is a HIGH name. We are connected in it with Jesus and Jesus is connected in it with us. It acts exactly like a strong tower for us. Towers don’t stop the weather. They don’t eliminate the siege. Wars rage around them and the weather beats down upon them. But the tower STANDS. It is SAFE. It is NOT pulled down. Which means those INSIDE the tower are ALSO safe. They ALSO stand. They are ALSO not pulled down. The tower isn’t a prison, keeping those inside from ‘enjoying’ the ravages and killing on the outside. The tower is a REFUGE, keeping those inside safe and secure. Keeping them ALOOF from what is happening around them. They see it, they witness it, but it does not touch them because they are inside the tower. This is where we are to rest. In the tower of Jesus’ name, authority, and power. In HIM we have rest. In HIM we have safety. In HIM we overcome. In HIM we are productive. Jesus is the One who gets it done. When He is on the case, nothing stops Him. If we want to fulfill our calling, we need to be inside Jesus. Inside the tower. Jesus doesn’t keep us out. He doesn’t tease or mock us. He opens the door and invites us in. He is the One from whom we get our daily bread and our refreshing water. His Name is where we live. The world may shake, but because of His love for us, we can enter that tower, observe what’s happening, and be secure.
