🕌 Imam Ali (AS): The Voice of Divine Justice

🌟 Birth in the Kaaba

Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS), the cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH & his family), was born inside the Kaaba in Makkah in 600 CE — the only person in history honored with such a miraculous birth. This divine sign marked his unique status in Islam from the very beginning.

📜 Early Life & Faith

From childhood, he was raised in the household of the Prophet (PBUH). He was the first male to accept Islam and stood beside the Prophet (PBUH) when others mocked or abandoned him. Whether at Badr, Uhud, Khandaq, or Khaybar, Imam Ali (AS) was the banner-holder of Islam.

His unwavering support earned him titles like Asadullah (The Lion of Allah) and Bab al-‘Ilm (The Gate to Knowledge).

🕋 A Man Raised by the Prophet

Imam Ali (AS) was born inside the Kaaba — a sign of divine distinction. He was raised in the Prophet’s household, absorbing the purest values of Islam. He was the first male to embrace Islam, standing by the Prophet through every challenge.

🗡️ The Lion of Allah

In battles like Badr, Uhud, and Khandaq, Imam Ali’s courage stood unmatched. He earned the title “Asadullah” (The Lion of Allah). But his strength was never for worldly power — it was always in defense of truth and for the sake of Allah.

🕊 After the Prophet: The Great Usurpation

Despite clear instructions from the Prophet (PBUH), including the Hadith al-Ghadir (“Whoever I am his master, Ali is his master”), the Ummah turned away from him after the Prophet’s death. At Saqifah, a hasty council appointed Abu Bakr as the caliph — while the Prophet’s family was occupied with his funeral.

🔥 The House of Fatima (AS) Attacked

Imam Ali (AS) refused to give bay’ah (allegiance), knowing it would validate a betrayal of the Prophet’s command. In response, Umar ibn al-Khattab led a group to Imam Ali’s home and threatened to burn it down. When the door was forced open, Lady Fatima al-Zahra (AS) — the only daughter of the Prophet — was crushed between the door and the wall.

As a result, she suffered a miscarriage (Muhsin) and lived in pain until her martyrdom, just 75 days after her father’s death.

Imam Ali (AS) buried her in secret, fulfilling her wish that those who wronged her should not attend her funeral.

“I was oppressed and my right was taken. I remained patient though the pain was bitter.” — Nahj al-Balagha

⚖️ Imam Ali’s Silence Was Not Weakness

He remained patient not because he agreed, but to prevent division in the newly founded Ummah. He became a silent guardian of truth and a hidden protector of Islam — until the time was right.

🚫 Bid’ah (Innovations) During Uthman’s Rule

During the rule of the third caliph, Uthman ibn Affan, widespread nepotism, corruption, and innovations plagued the Muslim empire. Uthman favored members of Banu Umayyah, especially Mu’awiyah, giving them power in Syria.

Uthman altered religious practices, introduced changes to the Friday prayer, and redefined the public treasury, causing widespread anger. When rebellion broke out, it was only Imam Ali (AS) who calmed the people, even as they called him the rightful leader.

👑 The Caliphate of Ali (AS)

After Uthman’s assassination, the Muslims turned to Imam Ali (AS). He initially refused, but accepted when forced by public demand — on the condition that he would rule with justice, not politics.

⚔️ The Trials: Jamal, Siffin, and Nahrawan

Imam Ali (AS)’s caliphate was marked by three wars:

1. Battle of Jamal — led by Aisha, Talha, and Zubair against Imam Ali (AS).
2. Battle of Siffin — against Mu’awiyah, who defied the rightful caliph.
3. Battle of Nahrawan — against the Khawarij, who had turned extremist.

Despite victory, these wars drained the Ummah, and Imam Ali (AS) saw more bloodshed from Muslims than any external enemy.

🕯 Martyrdom in the Mihrab

On the 21st of Ramadan, 40 AH (661 CE), Imam Ali (AS) was struck by a poisoned sword while in sujood (prostration) during Fajr prayer in Masjid Kufa. His final words were:

“By the Lord of the Kaaba, I have succeeded.”

His death marked the loss of divine justice and truth in political leadership. He was buried in Najaf — now a sacred city for Shia Muslims.

🌹 Imam Ali (AS): The Father of Truth

He was the first to believe, the bravest in battle, the most just of rulers, and the deepest in knowledge. No soul — after the Prophet (PBUH) — shined like Ali (AS).

His words in Nahj al-Balagha still guide the hearts of seekers.

His love for Fatima (AS) was unmatched, and his grief for her never healed.

Imam Ali (AS) is not just a caliph — he is Wilayah, truth, patience, and resistance.

To omit the injustices done to him and his family is to forget the very heart of Islam.
