Remembering God’s Faithfulness

When life feels uncertain, one of the best things we can do is look back and remember all the ways God has carried us before.

Today has been a bit of a mixed day. I haven’t been feeling 100 percent because my allergies have really been bothering me, so it’s been harder than usual to stay focused. Even so, there were several bright spots that reminded me God is always at work, even on the days when we don’t feel our best. I had another sale on Vinted, one of my YouTube videos reached 122 likes and 13 comments, and I gained nine new subscribers, bringing my total to 252. My goal is to reach 1,000 subscribers, so I’m thankful for every person who joins the journey.

One comment especially encouraged my heart. Someone shared that they really love my YouTube channel, and reading those words reminded me why I started creating faith-based videos in the first place. My hope has always been to encourage others, point people toward Christ, and remind them that they are never alone. Hearing that my videos are doing exactly that made all the work worthwhile.

Looking Back to Move Forward

Earlier today, I was listening to The Glenn Beck Radio Show. He was discussing current events, including war, inflation, and our nation’s growing debt. One point that stood out to me was his reminder that our country has faced difficult seasons before. By looking back at history and studying the writings of leaders such as John Adams and other influential figures, we can gain perspective and remember that previous generations also faced uncertainty.

As I listened, I couldn’t help but think about my own spiritual life. Just as it’s helpful to remember our nation’s history, it’s even more important to remember our history with God. When discouragement begins to creep in or circumstances seem overwhelming, we can look back and remember His faithfulness. We can remember the prayers He has answered, the needs He has provided for, the relationships He has restored, and the countless times He has protected us without us even realizing it.

Throughout Scripture, God often instructed His people to create memorials so they would never forget what He had done for them. One example is found in Joshua 4, where the Israelites were told to set up twelve stones after crossing the Jordan River as a lasting reminder of God’s faithfulness. Those memorials weren’t just about remembering the past — they were meant to strengthen faith for the future.

Be Still and Trust Him

One verse that has been especially meaningful to me today is Psalm 46:10:

“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10, NIV)

Those words remind me that I don’t have to have everything figured out. I don’t have to carry every burden or solve every problem on my own. Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is simply be still before the Lord, trust that He is in control, and rest in His presence.

Another verse that continually encourages me is Isaiah 26:3:

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.” (Isaiah 26:3, NIV)

That kind of peace doesn’t come from perfect circumstances. It comes from keeping our hearts and minds focused on the One who never changes. When we remember God’s faithfulness in the past, it becomes much easier to trust Him with the future.

One of my favorite places to be still before the Lord is on our back deck after dinner, before I head inside to wash the dishes. I love sitting quietly, looking up at the evening sky, and simply taking in God’s creation. Some evenings, the sunset paints the clouds with beautiful colors. On other nights, the stars shine brightly across the sky, and sometimes thick clouds cover everything. Yet no matter what the sky looks like, it always reminds me to look up and remember that God is still on His throne. He is still in control, He still has a plan, and He always has our best interests at heart.

When life feels uncertain, don’t forget to remember. Think back to the ways God has already carried you through difficult seasons. The same God who was faithful yesterday is faithful today, and He will continue to be faithful tomorrow.
