I just heard a brilliant video with Rory Sutherland and some gentlemen from England talking about starting a business by copying other people and improving on the business that they have. This is an idea that I have never thought of, and I think it’s brilliant. If only I had thought about this earlier, but instead I’ve tried to do everything by myself in the beginning.
Even looking at the idea that I might have for a business and seeing how other people are doing it is a good idea. And if anyone copies your idea, it is smart not to sue them for sure, but instead to think about helping them grow. When they do grow and do all the research for growing in that country or area, then purchase them because they’ve done all the work for you.
Part of the discussion on that video is how silly it is that we go to school and we’re discouraged from copying other people. This idea of copying turns out to be the great help that it is in starting a business.
