- for every stranger I have ever been

& how “The Holiday” reminded me that none of us are as separate as we think.

The Holiday.

it was what people call happy.

nice

&

warm

&

the kind of movie that makes me smile bright and big without really noticing until I feel my cheek muscles stretched like an absolute idiot, adoring people falling for each other and having something happy about it.

you know,

it just made me realise that I feel so confused about everything that I ever feel.

& then I decide to be uncertain about those feelings because I am aware that I am not very capable of comprehending all of that.

because maybe I don’t really know everything well enough to judge the certainty or uncertainty of those feelings.

but then, watching these little yet huge pieces of art, they make me understand better.

Comprehend better.

they make me capable of defining feelings that I maybe feel and keep contained.

they make me capable of so much, I guess.

Capable of breathing better.

of feeling better.

of looking at people better.

of understanding them better.

And most of all, capable of understanding that line better.

The line that says….

( p.s — I am not sure if it exists, but I am pretty positive that I read it somewhere, so yes, it must exist.)

The line that tries to say….

that all beings are one

when I see these people, these characters, their emotions, the events unfolding around and about them…

it makes me believe that

yes, indeed,

we all are one.

I find pieces of me in the stories.

pieces of my face and body.

pieces of how I felt and why I felt those things.

pieces of my own stories in their stories.

pieces of my pain.

pieces of places it aches….

I can recognise it all when I watch these.

not all at once, rather one by one,

here and there,

in so many different characters

at so many different times.

“They are as much me as I am them.”

we all are humans, complex beings with common emotions and various ways of coming across those.

w are all vital pieces of one another, discovering each other and ourselves one by one

&

maybe stories matter because they remind us that none of us are as separate as we think.
