TV Guide Issues — Televised Revolution

I was just made aware of this review in the TV Guide (the free paper insert publication produced by Pagemasters for News Ltd Sunday papers) over the weekend for the charming, funny, and oft-experimental US comedy series Louie.

It reads to me like someone has a couple of issues to work through.

Because I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t me that was off-base in considering this show to be one of the more thoughtful and artistic comedy series currently on air, I jumped on Google and these two reviews were the first to come up:

“In the end, Louie ends up doing what people generally do when their goals are forever outside their grasp: he slaps a new coat of paint on something less than perfect and continues to dream of something better. It’s an expectedly moving ending to a show that’s leaping from peak to peak these days”.

“Of the season 2 episodes I’ve seen so far, I think “Moving” was my favorite, because it manages to squeeze so many of the things I love about “Louie” into a single story”.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. And I’m not quite sure why I really put much stock in a review from a free print TV guide that on its first page (technically page 3) includes bit.ly links to their favourite YouTube videos. I think it may have just been the ridiculous judgement call that concluded the review.

Very silly stuff. Even sillier than the YouTube videos.
