Have I dodged a Bullet?
Or should I persevere?
Have I dodged a Bullet?
Or should I persevere?

Some time ago I read an article by John Hansen PAL who told us of a message he received from Stripe.
The message asked him to review his Stripe account so he could continue receiving payouts. Obviously, John wanted to keep receiving payouts, so he leapt into action. He has written about the hoops he had to go through to make sure this happened.
In my response to his article I, rather smugly in retrospect, said I had not been asked to review my Stripe account. That was a big mistake.
Early in October I received a message from Stripe asking for Photo ID, although there was no mention of not receiving payouts.
I received this message on 8th of October and although I don’t like procrastination I decided to put dealing with it on the back burner. After all I was weeks away from breaking the $10 payout barrier.
However, for some odd reason I “crashed” through the $10 barrier. On 5th of November, I received a message from Medium that my earnings had been sent to Stripe.
As I had not responded to Stripe’s request for photographic identity and I certainly did want my massive earnings🙄 to be held up, I should have started to panic but, the message from Medium regarding the transfer of my riches also said it could take between five to seven days to reach my bank account.
This information is what I needed to resist the temptation to panic, but to calmly work out a plan of action.
I opened up Stripes page and although a bit complicated for a slightly computer illiterate person like me, it gave me enough information of what was required, a selfie and a copy of a government document confirming my identity, and a link on how to send it.
My plan of action was to set the 7th of November aside and spend as much time as it would take to get things right and ensure my cash arrived without any hitches.
But, as things turned out, I didn’t need to follow my plan of action. My morning ritual includes checking my bank account and I was very surprised and pleased to see my Medium payment had already arrived in my bank.
Now being the type of person I am, I immediately abandoned my plan of concentrating on the difficult task of taking photographs that were in focus and readable and gave myself the day off, after all I now had at least another month to complete the tasks.
It is now time for me to confess.
All of the above is true. I have been asked by Stripe for photo ID, and I have received my payments. But I confess I have written this because I had nothing to write about and it is a cheap way to ask if anyone else has been asked for photo ID and still received payments if they have not complied with Stripe’s request?
It is my lazy way of asking do I need to send photo ID.
Help! 😁
Thanks for reading.
