The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the human body. This exceptional mobility allows the hand to move freely in almost every direction, but it also makes the joint inherently vulnerable. Unlike the hip, whose deep bony socket provides substantial stability, the shoulder relies heavily on its ligaments, joint capsule, and muscular system to maintain the humeral head centered within the glenoid cavity. When these structures become damaged, the joint may become unstable and prone to recurrent dislocations. Understanding Recurrent Shoulder Dislocation
A dislocation occurs when the articular surfaces completely lose contact. In the shoulder, the humeral head most commonly dislocates anteriorly.
