Why I Use This Avatar

You likely have recognized the GIF avatar I use as some type of pokemon trainer, as by the colored, but still pixelated, design.

To be more specific, though, this pokemon trainer is known as “Red”.

Red was has been in a lot of Pokemon games. He was the character you played in generation one’s Red and Blue, and later on Fire Red and Leaf Green. In Generation Two, he was an endgame fight. The point of this was a mysterious one. Essentially, you were fighting your older self. Whether or not there’s a moral in this, I don’t know, but the idea always interested me.

These Generation Two games were Gold, Silver and Crystal, and then Heart Gold and Soul Silver, the remakes.

In Generation Three, Red was nowhere to be seen, likely because these games weren’t originally planned.

You see, Pokemon was originally just going to be Generations One and Two, which is likely the reason why both Kanto and Johto are in the Generation Two games.

But the popularity of Pokemon caused them to make Generation Three, kickstarting the pokemon franchise.

This is also why the Pokemon from the first few Generations weren’t in Generation Three.

Red was also not in Generation Four, sadly.

In Generation Five, there was this Battle Arena where you could fight gym leader’s and other important characters from earlier Generations. After a long time of existing on Mt. Silver, where you battle him in Generation Two, he had finally came back to prove his dominance.

Just like in every generation after One, Red doesn’t talk. He stays silent, possibly from all those years on Mt. Silver.

After defeating him, he leaves. He is not seen in Kalos, which makes a lot of sense, because the first regions were based off Japan, which is closer to Unova, the Generation Five region(Based on New York). Kalos, the Generation Six region, is based off of France, which is much farther away.

Red is seen in another American-based region, Alola(The Gen Seven region), which is modeled off of Hawaii. He is seen with Blue, his original rival. As by usual Red style, he doesn’t say anything. Later on, after beating Red, he gives you the mega stones for Blastoise, Charizard and Venasaur.

This makes sense as well because these were the final evolution’s of the Generation One Pokemon, Red’s first generation.

Red, overall, is a Pokemon Icon, known for defeating Giovanni, and being one of the most powerful trainers in the ENTIRE WORLD OF POKEMON.

He’s also in the Manga, but that’s another story for a future article.

I like Red. He has a lot more character design than the other trainers, which I appreciate.

Red, is not just a Pokemon Trainer. Unlike Ash, Red is the true Pokemon Master, and he will be forever remembered by fans of Pokemon.
