As you have probably already noticed from this blog, I am a big fan of outings where you bring your child to a museum and they play there 😁 This museum has a bit of everything: very old toys, model railways, LEGO, dolls (lots of dolls!), a town with moving mechanical toys from 1962, a zoo, fire engines, toy soldiers, and more. As a bonus, there are vintage marble run tracks that children can play with.

Overall, no matter what your child is interested in, you will find a display dedicated to it, showing what children used to play with and how toys have changed over the years (my husband and I even had our own grown-up competition: who could find the strangest and creepiest toy in the museum 😅).

The main treasure is here on the museum website, you will find several city and Roman-history quest-style rallies for children there — perfect for young history lovers (ages 8+). I personally plan to take my son to Porta Nigra only once he is old enough for this quest 😁 and to the amphitheatre quest as well!
