The Defining Moment of the 2024 F2 Championship

Despite being a feeder series to F1, Formula 2 never fails to bring exciting showdowns between future stars of the sport. This season is no exception as we had over a dozen drivers take a win across Sprints and Feature Races.

Our current championship leader Gabriel Bortoleto, who sits on top of the standings by 4.5 points against rival Issack Hadjar started off the season is a slow but consistent manner. Always there to take opportunities when they rose in front of him.

But his defining moment came at the Temple of Speed in Monza where he finished from last to first. It all started when he spun off during qualifying and was forced to start from the back of the grid. But he charged through the field in the sprint race as he managed to get as high as P8.

But come race day and the Brazilian showed a drive that we’ve only seen in champions of the future. Although many people will credit the intervention of a safety car that turned around his fortunes. But safety car or not, you can not deny the fact that he was tearing through the field. Passing cars left and right with what could be defined as a rocket ship!

Such was his performance that it drew the attention of multiple Formula 1 teams who wanted the Mclaren Junior Driver for themselves. In the end, it was Kick Sauber who managed to secure the Brazilian’s services on a multi-year deal. He will be partnered alongside the Incumbent Nico Hulkenberg as Sauber prepare to tranisition into Audi by 2026.

It would be a true test of his abilities by being paired alongside one of the most experienced hands on the field and in car that is likely to remain the slowest on the grid for next year as well. But impress in that Sauber and we can expect a career from the Brazilian that just might rival the greats of Formula 1.
