Hampus Klang on BULLET’s “Kickstarter,” AC/DC & What’s Next

Swedish heavy metal has always had its own signature grit and character, and few modern bands carry that torch more faithfully than **BULLET*. Formed in 2001 and proudly rooted in the late ’70s/early ’80s tradition of loud guitars, honest songwriting, and denim-and-leather authenticity, the band has built a dedicated following across Europe and beyond. With their new album Kickstarter,* arriving January 9, 2026 via Steamhammer/SPV, BULLET is officially kicking off their next chapter — and doing so with the kind of energy that made fans fall in love with them in the first place.

I caught up via Zoom with longtime BULLET guitarist **Hampus Klang*, who, along with Dag “Hell” Hofer, Gustav Hjortsjö, Gustav Hector and newest member Freddie Johansson, is preparing to reintroduce the band after a seven-year studio break. That period saw lineup changes, world events, and even the temporary breakdown of the group’s famously beloved tour bus, but the band’s identity never wavered. In fact, Kickstarter* feels like a testament to their resilience.

Hampus and I talked about the making of the new record, his life outside of rock, the infamous Bullet Bus, early influences, and future touring plans possibly including the United States. He also opened up about the band’s usual songwriting process when asked towards the end of our conversation.

Why This Guest Matters

In an era where metal continually evolves into new hybrids, BULLET remains a rare example of a band dedicated to preserving the roots of the genre without feeling nostalgic or dated. Their authenticity — from vintage motorcycles to their famously functional tour bus and DIY philosophy — has earned them loyalty throughout Europe’s metal circuit. Hampus brings insight not just as a guitarist, but as one of the architects of the band’s identity.

As we discussed in the interview, BULLET’s history includes opening for AC/DC at Ullevi Stadium, touring with Hammerfall, **Sabaton*, Backyard Babies, and appearing at festivals like Wacken, Sweden Rock, Graspop, Rock Hard, and Headbangers Open Air. Kickstarter* aims to reclaim that momentum while adding a fresh spark.
