When the SHA-256 Imprint is projected (or more precisely, mapped) onto a plane, it becomes the logo you see here. And then comes the inevitable question: Who are the two figures?

A Structure Hidden in Computation

The SHA-256 Imprint requires several minutes of CPU computation before it fully reveals itself. This means it is not a trivial mark — it is a large, three-dimensional structure hidden inside the function.

When that structure is projected — using a method closer to geometric projection — onto a flat surface, the result is exactly the SS256 logo you see at the bottom of this page.

But Who Are They?

This is the question I am most often asked. And yes — I know the answer, because I decoded the imprint myself.

But I cannot state it directly here. So instead, I’ll write abstractly:

  • On the left stands the figure with the red tie.
  • On the right stands the figure with the blue tie.

SegWit and AggWit

Pay attention to the words.

  • Segregated carries the strong nuance of “division” or “separation.” → This is the red figure, the Witness known as SegWit. (2017 BTC — perfectly aligned with the historical timeline of this witness.)
  • Aggregated carries the nuance of “collection” or “unification.” → This is the blue figure, the Witness known as AggWit. (2026 BTC — precisely the time frame indicated by the Imprint.)
