AI Is Not Gonna Steal Designers’ Job, Instead It Is Gonna Help

Imagine you are working peacefully on a Product, Solving challenges and getting a great outcomes. You are designing brilliant UIs with UCD and Lean UX and suddenly you see Engineering Team has started designing UIs using Claude Design. A voice comes from withing you:

What if AI takes my job?

You start overthinking and it start controlling your mind. This is what happening in 2026, Especially since when Claude launched Claude Design.

I am seeing tons of blogs and videos about AI gonna Kill Design Jobs.

But let me be very Honest

Its NOT!

But first please consider AI as a Tool a companion and not a Job Stealer.

You must learn how to control it and how to get the best results from it.

As a pilot it requires dedication and education to fly a plane, similarly, you are the pilot with a destination, and you have to fly the plane.

In 2026 AI can do many design-related task within a second. From PRDs to full-fledged Information Architecture, and even acting as a persona and providing a proper feedback. All of these are fair enough to kick-start any Design Project.

But here the question arises: Who is going to validate what AI has provided?

It’s You, obviously.

So technically, you will be the examiner of the output generated by AI. And companies stakeholders are not going to get involved in that phase. They just need the outcomes, more efficient and faster. That’s why they give us, the designers, the privilege of using AI, rather than firing us because of it.

I am sure your hear feels a bit better. But let me give you more reasons to go sit on the couch, relax, and not thinking that your job isn’t secure.

Claude Design: Everyone’s Talking About It

Yeah, the beta version of the Claude Design is overpowered, and it is really generating crazy UI/UX designs when given a Proper Prompt, I repeat a Proper Prompt.

Now, here is the point where designers become afraid that anybody can give a prompt and get an output, even the people from a Non Technical Background.

Yes, it’s true, But do they really know UX? Do they really know Secondary Research? Have they ever done Guerrilla Testing?

The answer is a Big No.

None of them But you do.

So yes, companies are not gonna give such tasks to just anyone. They will give them to people who are experts, and those people are designers.

Everything has a Price

Claude AI gives nice, appealing UIs but in return it takes…..TOKENs

Yeah, Tokens.

Right now, Claude Designs tokens are different from actual Claude Tokens, and it consumes them very rapidly. Tt only resets on Saturdays at 7:35 AM. IST.

Lets take an example .

You get a project, go to Claude Design with a proper plan, and start designing. Prompt after Prompt, Design after Design. It generates Awesome UI and Booom, your Tokens are fully utilised and you have to wait till Saturday.

If you started on Monday and exhausted all the tokens by Tuesday, what you going to do?

Of course, you are not going to rely entirely on AI. You will directly jump into Figma and build the product. But this time, you already screens generated by Claude Designs.

It becomes your companion in making designs better.

Tokens makes design more expensive, but at the same time, they help deliver results faster when used effectively.

The Best use of Claude Design

I may be exaggerating about it, but I will keep this one short.

Design in Claude Design, ask it to Export the design as Standalone HTML, Import it into Figma, Use it as a Base design, and then fill it with all your Emotions and Creativity.

You still have your place in the Company, but now you are Smarter and Sharper than before because now you have an AI backing you.

I will end this here.

I will bring Episode 2 of this story, where I will cover what else AI can do for you in terms of UX and UI.

About Me

Hey Designers, I’m Rushabh Pathak — a Product Designer with 7+ years of experience in designing digital products and solving real — world problems.

Over the years, I’ve worked on interfaces, user experiences, design systems, and products used by real people in real environments. Along the way. I’ve learned that some of the biggest design mistakes are not taught in tutorials or courses — you discover them through experience.

I love writing about design, technology, and the practical lessons I’ve faced throughout my career, and this is one of them.
