The recipes are moving to a dedicated site. Here’s why and where to find them

After more than half a year on Medium, Grok Original Recipes has a new home.
Why Medium, why leave
Medium gave me a place to start. The publishing tools are clean, the writing experience is good, and building an audience from zero is easier inside an existing platform than shouting into the void with a new domain. For a lot of content, Medium is exactly the right choice.
For recipes it’s the wrong choice.
A recipe visit has a specific shape. Someone sees a Pinterest pin, taps through, wants to see the recipe. That’s the whole transaction. Every step between the tap and the ingredient list is friction and Medium has friction. The cookie consent wall. The sign-in nag. The app download prompt. The paywall that appears after three visits. Each one of those is a moment where a visitor who just wanted to make Buffalo Chicken Chili on Sunday decides it isn’t worth it and goes back to Pinterest to find something easier.
The recipes deserve better than that.
What I built instead
The new site is as close to friction-free as I could make it. You click through from Pinterest, you land on the recipe. No walls, no prompts, no algorithm deciding whether to show it to you. The recipe is just there.
I’ve been thinking of it as Web 1.0 values with Web 3.0 polish. Web 1.0 in the best sense — you click a link, you get a page, the page has the thing you came for. Web 3.0 polish in the sense that it loads fast, looks right on your phone, and the typography doesn’t make you squint. Simple, clean, respectful of your time.
It’s built on Hugo and hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Fast by default, no database, no server to maintain, no moving parts to break at 11pm on a Saturday when you’re trying to figure out what to cook this week.
What you’ll find there
All the GOR recipes, migrated and cleaned up for consistency. The origin story — how a frustration with tuna salad and a conversation with Grok became a system for high-protein one-pot meals. A New American cuisine series with five recipes built around one of America’s most creative culinary traditions. And a conversation with Claude about why these recipes are seasoned the way they are — mild by design, not by accident, optimized for Thursday not Tuesday.
More recipes are coming. The system is working. Grok keeps designing, I keep cooking, and the ones that survive four days of repeat lunches make it to the site.
The invitation
If you’ve been following GOR on Medium, thank you. You were here when it was just a few stews and a hunch that this could work. Come find the recipes where they live now.
Everything is there. No friction.
