Cruising down the street At the speed limit To the left and right It is the same sight I wish not to see Time and again I ask, “Why?” This time to the right It was a “little” different A LITTLE LITTLE LITTLE A little flash of pink I take another peek An adult squatted curbside She was playing Tic-tac-toe On the retaining wall She was playing Hopscotch She was playing Not in a garden Not in a park Not in front of a home Or — maybe that was… I ask, “How?” Timesup! This is the land of the free And the home of the brave Can we let this happen To our “little” ladies? What did I do? And what can I do? Where are the ones in power? Do they have the power? By the people, but Are they for the people? Where are the breadcrumbs? To the paradise
