online Shopping

Today, the popularity of online shopping is growing rapidly among consumers, and it is becoming part of their lifestyle. The use of the Internet as a medium of communication and transaction in the customer market is growing rapidly (Castells, 2000; Hart, Doherty, and Ellis-Chadwick, 2000). Following the globalization of the last few decades, all industries have had to shift to new changes or new technologies to compete with each other. Consumers are adopting this change very well. One of the big examples is an online shopping (e-commerce). Most brands already have their own websites that sell goods and services over the Internet. There are also major websites that buy and sell products such as Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more and eBay. Internet shopping not only sells clothes but also a wide variety of merchandise, including electronic merchandise, jewelry, airplane, and movie bookings. Tickets etc. Online shopping includes B2B (business to business), B2C (business to consumer), and C2C (consumer to consumer). In Pakistan, Customers believe that online shopping in Pakistan is closer to catalog shopping and traditional shopping (Ward, 2001).

Literature review summary

Internet shopping has evolved successfully over the last few decades. Since the early 1990s, e-commerce has evolved significantly, resulting in rapid changes in the global retail infrastructure (Chen & Chang, 2003). The reasons for researching this topic consider important things that companies should consider when running an online store.

Factors Affecting Consumers Shopping on the Internet

There are several contextual factors that affect consumers to go online shopping rather than traditional store shopping. There are situations where consumers need certain products and these products are not available in the country or region where they live. Geographical issues occur very often. The reason is that not all countries have the same product, or different brands have different products in different countries depending on the needs and desires of consumers. Another influential factor is that it is more convenient for people who work long hours, have little leisure time, do not have enough time to go shopping such as housewives, and people who are ill and cannot go to the store.

Comparison of traditional in-store shopping and online shopping:

For traditional shopping, consumers need to go to a store where they can meet the seller and interact with each other to make a deal. When shopping in the store, you can browse the products and services you need. Traditional shopping is less risky and more specific because consumers can see the actual product and touch, feel, and try it on before making a purchase. When consumers traditionally shop, they have the opportunity to pay with many payment methods such as cash, credit cards, or salaries. On the other hand, credit cards are the only way for consumers who shop online to pay.

Products :

When it comes to internet shopping, there is no product specific when consumers buy. However, the product is provided with specific information so that consumers can know what the specification is.

Pricing:

In most cases, online shopping offers cheap online shopping than stores. Online shopping is very rewarding because the system automatically tracks each time a customer makes a purchase.

Location:

See the manufacturer’s website for online shopping locations. It is very important for an online retailer or manufacturer to have a well-recognized domain name. Most retailers place banner ads on other web pages.

E-Promotion:

Place a banner ad on another web page is considered an e-promotion. This is the most common form of electronic promotion, and banner ads should be placed on web pages that are primarily viewed by consumers.

Another way to promote online shopping is web public relations. Web public relations have successfully placed product-related articles, news, and reviews on the company’s website for consumers to read. Direct email is also a very popular form of electronic promotion. Companies send large numbers of electronic leaflets to consumers.

The e-marketing mix should not be separated from each other in order for the company to achieve a successful online marketing strategy. According to (Abramson and Hollingshead, 1999), more consumers will shop online in the future. Existing retail trends demonstrate a shift from traditional in-store retail to increased use of Internet shopping (Keen et al., 2002).
