If, by fake pictures, you mean overly filtered photos or those of other people, I guess they get validation from doing so. They especially like to use pictures of beautiful people so that others will appreciate them. Let’s face it;, we live in a superficial society where **beauty gives you an advantage**.

For example, a person of average beauty will likely receive less attention on dating apps, while someone gorgeous will have hundreds of potential matches. As a result, people often use fake pictures to experience the thrill of **receiving such attention**.

Unfortunately, you’re only creating an idealized version of yourself, and any compliment or attention you receive isn’t exactly for you, but for the fake persona you created. Nonetheless, some people enjoy the feeling of being pursued and adored.
