Spy Comedies

I studied cinema and economics at USC/USF. I also had several jobs and internships in Entertainment. I enjoy spy films, especially the James Bond Franchise. Some comedy spy movies I enjoy are “Casino Royale”, the “Austin Powers” trilogy, the “Kingsmen” films, “Johnny English”, and “Undercover Brother”.

Casino Royale

This was a James Bond spoof made in the 1960s with Peter Sellers. The film has the same title as the first James Bond novel. There was a film in the Bond Franchise released in 2006 with the same title.

The Austin Powers Trilogy

These were 3 films, “International Man of Mystery”, “The Spy Who Shagged Me”, and “Goldmember”. Mike Myers played the lead and also Dr Evil. Probably the most well known parodies of the Bond film series. These take place in the UK. Some of the jokes are memorable.

“The Kingsmen films”

These were based on a comic book series from Icon Comics, which is part of Marvel. They are Action/Comedy films. They have a more serious tone than some of the other movies I mentioned, but they have comedy as well.

“Johnny English”

This is a spoof starring Rowan Atkinson. He also played Mr. Bean. This one is quite goofy. This takes place in England too.

“Undercover Brother”

“When “The Man” tries to derail a black candidate’s presidential campaign, Undercover Brother and his fellow secret agents come to the rescue.” (IMDb)

These were all good films. I enjoyed “The Kingsmen” ones the most, because I read the graphic novels. I look forward to more films being made in this niche genre in the future.
