ONDC 2.0

How ONDC plans to reinvent itself and live up to its promise of becoming the next UPI.

You might vaguely remember ONDC, short for Open Network for Digital Commerce, from a few years ago, when it was being touted as the next big digital revolution after UPI.

It did not live up to the hype. Part of the reason was that many of us failed to understand how it worked and what it could do!

Over the last few weeks, it has been back in the news with fresh funding and a new plan of action. ONDC says that this fundraising is part of its transition from a “functional proof of concept” to what it calls ONDC 2.0. It adds that the new funds will:
