The death of the manual handbrake
Why was the manual car handbrake retired? Well, electronic systems, free up space in the cabin, removing that cumbersome lever, they also offer built-in safety features, no more slipping (or forgetting), automatic hill-start assist, automatically disengaging when pulling away, and importantly, it can’t be applied while on the move, unlike the physical brake.

If you’ve driven your kids around in the car, trust me, you’ll know precisely what I mean!
When I was a kid at school, a friend of mine got into trouble because he was fooling around in the minibus, when it was parked, he released the handbrake, which proceeded to roll down the school sloping carpark.
An electronic brake, that cannot happen, once the electrics are off, the brakes are locked, unlike that manual one.
Safer… yes.
But, I still expect to see that chunky lever there…
