Contract KickOff Meeting
An important first step after contract award begins with setting the expectations and initiating the relationships. This is done through kicking off performance with a Kickoff Meeting or Post Award Conference. The purpose of this meeting is to ensure that the government and the contractor have a clear and mutual understanding of the contract requirements, which reduces the potential for problems.
The goals of the Kickoff Meeting are clarification and cooperation. It is for both the contractor and the government to determine how to work together to reach their common goal of successful completion of the contract.
The Kickoff Meeting helps ensure that the government and the contractor are “on the same page” from the start of the contract by:
Reviewing and clarifying contract requirements so that both parties are in agreement on the interpretation of each requirement.
Identifying and resolving oversights.
Deciding how potential problems will be resolved in the future.
Attendees should include the contractor personnel, CO, COR, program manager (PM).
