The Best Kind of Thursday

Today wasn’t productive in the way the internet would measure it.

No huge sales.

No viral post.

No big breakthrough.

Instead?

My four-year-old brought me tissue paper.

The kind you stuff inside gift bags to make them look fancy.

He laid it out on the floor like it was treasure. Blue. Green. Yellow. Red. Just waiting for something to happen.

So we made something happen.

We turned them into “color islands.”

I yelled out colors and he jumped like his life depended on it.

He was focused. Determined. Fully committed to the mission.

And then… the cat joined.

She casually walked over and claimed the green one like she paid rent.

So now the game had rules.

We couldn’t step on green. The cat was the boss. The referee. The queen of the island.

And there he was — standing there in his little shirt and diaper, completely serious about this very important jumping task.

No iPad.

No toys.

No money spent.

Just paper.

Carpet.

Imagination.

And I caught myself thinking…

This is it.

This is the season.

Not the hustle.

Not the stress.

Not the “when I make it” version of life.

This one.

The one where I’m sitting on the couch watching my son jump from color to color while the cat supervises like she owns the place.

It’s loud.

It’s messy.

It’s chaotic.

But it’s ours.

One day he won’t ask me to play color islands.

One day tissue paper won’t be magic.

One day he won’t look at me like I can turn nothing into something.

So today, I did.

And honestly?

That feels like success to me.
