A Statute of Limitations for Your Mistakes, Eternal Liability for Ours?!

This is a short article, and written as lightly as possible, and in as generalized a way and as much in the style of a “shallow dive” as I am intellectually and emotionally capable of treating so serious a subject, and one so steeped in blood and dissention as is…the Doctrine of Original Sin.

The year is 2026, which is a watershed moment in the history of Catholicism. I was uncertain if this doctrine is held by any other religions of “The Book”, but a little reading has revealed to me what may come to many of you (especially Roman Catholics) as a surprise, vis, that neither Judaism nor Islam accepts the validity of the Doctrine of Original Sin — both religions holding fast to the tenet that All children are born innocent and that no-one can be found guilty or held accountable for the actions of another — just as is the case in most countries’ secular legal systems, universally, and throughout history.

But it just came to my attention that in March this year the Christian Brothers Schools, of which I attended St. Francis Xavier in Primary School, and St. Kevin’s College in high school, are filing for bankruptcy. This means that they will have to close, and then some other institution will have to re-brand them, since I strongly doubt that after almost 200 years of operation in Australia the schools are not closing because their product — Catholic Education — is redundant, or that Australian Catholics are no longer having children.

After a quick look into the cause of so odd an announcement — after all, the oldest unbroken institution in the world is not especially known for shrinking, closing down churches, or abandoning territories.

The truth is to the contrary — that the Catholic Church is always growing in every way, including in the number of its followers and churches and the acreage of it’s territories, where all are invited to congregate and praise the Father-Creator for the gift of our lives.

So how could an entire Catholic territory like Australia get closed, despite nearly 200 years and 200 schools that had always been booked years in advance for students? Sadly the answer is that these schools, some of them, were among the worst criminal culprits unmasked in the findings of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses into Child Sex Abuse. The conduct was rife throughout the institution and went all the way to the top, with Archbishop Little of Melbourne found guilty of covering up the crimes. The main thing he did when he found out the conduct of his heretical demonic priests was to just move them around to different parishes and communities, to obfuscate the crimes rather than bring them to justice.

Melbourne was found to contain the worst cases as well as in the greatest number of offences in any diocese in the world. So when I read about the church being forces to pay large sums of money to the victims it was not surprising. What was surprising was to just now read that the Christian Brothers organization has filed for bankruptcy, after having paid out close to 300 million AUD. They appear to be using the fact that the schools, as commercial parts of the institution, required to be operated under a corporate entity for the purposes of day to day operations, the employment of staff, and whatever else the Catholic Church’s creative accountants and team of lawyers used to rationalize the quarantining of that part ( the teaching part) of the schools operations.

I’ll bet that the property portfolio for all church-owned property accumulated in Australia since 1840 was not vested in the company that owns the Christian Brothers’ Colleges! It’ll be in a trust owned beneficially by the Holy See in Rome…and it must be worth enough billions of dollars, that had the (obviously conflicted) judge in the case against the church ordered that the beneficial owner be added to the case as a liable related-party to the claim, then there would have been plenty of money to pay out all of the claimants globally, and keep the Christian Brothers Colleges open for another 180 years.

Such is the state of matters as I see them according to secular law, the law of Caesar — that Justice has not been served in that jurisdiction, since the guilty party has got away without paying the full price of breaking faith with the families, and especially the children, who were defenseless, and despite the Church actually having the means to pay, except that it was evaded.

Now that was Caesar, so let us consider what is owed under Holy Law and Divine Justice. I think we need to look at a precedent, and if so then why not go to the very first transgression of a covenant between God and Man (although our Jewish and Muslim friends do not believe in the doctrine of Original Sin…but the Pope does!), which is Original Sin, which Adam and Eve were found guilty for within about a week (it seems) of being created. They ate the forbidden fruit, and as a result were judged and cursed to death and imprisonment in Limbo for 4000 years until the Messiah would come and not actually waive their liability or pardon them per se, but rather he would come to offer himself as a ‘blood-liable’ in payment for their still unforgiven sin, and only after that could they hope to enter Paradise!

In the present case it appears that God is ultimately liable for the actions of those Christian Brothers priests, but instead of Him paying money or otherwise compensating the innocent victims in kind, he allowed his global clerical human representatives to represent that they act for Him, but them they defrauded the victims from being put back into a condition they would be in had the crime never taken place…even though no amount of money could have achieved that outcome. Yet did they fall short even of the material compensation.

My Judgement rendered on appeal written in the silent tears and the nightly moans of the restless ghosts of those dead Melbourne children who never saw Justice in life, is that God must grant them peace and give them all new lives with good fortunes and protection from evil, then he should also perform penance by teaching primary school every day, changing thousands of shitty nappies, and endlessly watching over the conduct of his clergy on Earth. Should he fail to perform these just punishments then Paradise should be flooded until all the angels drown.

So it is Judged. Amen.
