What’s This Newsletter About?
This newsletter will be an occasional one. It’ll be no more than monthly. In each edition, you’ll find a round-up of the latest articles from The Crawl Space blog. You’ll find thoughts and observations about what has been the most popular to least popular blog posts since the last newsletter.
You’ll also find other related articles/resources by Kaitlin McMichael, the founder of this blog and newsletter, that weren’t featured on the Crawl Space blog so you may have missed out.
There will also be a section about “Interesting Tidbits” — such as other interesting articles, publications, authors, videos, blogs, and other things worth sharing across the web. Some relevant to SEO/marketing/business, some just for fun!

Round-up #1
Here’s all the blog posts that have been published so far on The Crawl Space. Going forward, each newsletter will include the blog posts published since the last newsletter. These are listed from most popular to least popular:
What’s a Healthy Mix of Brand and Non-Brand SEO Traffic Look Like?
This was a popular post because it was featured in the Women in Tech SEO email newsletter, which has a big fanbase. Thanks to the community there for the love for this post!
How to Get the Most Data out of Google Search Console
This article has been popular because it is a commonly-asked question with insufficient documentation from Google and an in-depth tutorial; one of the most comprehensive of any others currently published on the same topic.
In-House SEO vs Agency SEO
This article was popular because it pits two types of SEO work against each other. It hits on a commonly debated topic — about which side of the fence has the greener grass.
Information Architecture & SEO — with inspiration from The Home Edit
Maybe this has done well because it uses “The Home Edit” popularity to illustrate information architecture concepts.
2025 Digital Marketing & SEO Predictions
This type of article with the year’s predictions in a certain industry are popular every January.
Wireframing Skills for SEO Practitioners
Perhaps this one intrigues those who do SEO but not wireframing? It’s certainly not an obvious skill or topic covered often.
How Design & SEO Can be Friends
Might be less popular because Design and SEO don’t want to be friends? Maybe only the frenemy-zone. :-)
Writing Skills in SEO Product Management
Either writing is a lost art or people don’t like mixing SEO & product management, because this article (first published) didn’t exactly take off. It’s also possible that the topic is fine but the audience was still in its infancy when this article was published.
My Experience & Experiments in Blogging
This article was a bit more personal and reflective with thoughts on blogging from Kaitlin. It was also written very early on.
Book Review: Managing Up
Thus far, the 4 to 5 articles that have been published on The Crawl Space as book reviews, covering different books in the SEO and/or business industry, have not gone viral. Maybe book reviews are too niche and not of interest on Medium? There doesn’t seem to be many other business book review blogs on Medium, which could either confirm that theory or present an opportunity to fill a gap.
Shitty First Drafts & Writing the Amazon Way
Including a curse word in the title didn’t work as click bait because this one didn’t take off either. It still may be the case that there’s a niche for writing about Amazon culture on Medium, but that’s to be determined.
Working Backwards from the Customer in SEO
Here’s another article about Amazon culture / leadership principles that takes a concept an applies it to SEO. Too niche?
Book Review: Radical Candor by Kim Scott
Published recently and so it hasn’t had much time to garner views/reads, but most views/reads occur in the first few days so this one’s future is not looking bright.
