There Are Things I’d Like to Do
I hope it’s not too late

There are lofty mountain ranges There are forests by the sea There are islands in the ocean Where I wish that I could be.
There are regions of my country That I’m longing to explore There are stories never written That I wish I wrote before.
There are people not encountered Who I’d really love to meet There is music that inspires me I’ll try dancing to its beat.
There are treasures long-time hidden I must find them, at what cost? There are many friends and loved ones That I wish I’d never lost.
There are lies that need forgiving That should never have been said There are lots of silly mind games Playing ping pong in my head.
There are things I’d like to do again This time I’d get them right There are often coloured answers Instead of black and white.
There’s injustice happening in the world That I wish that I could stop Just by piercing with a pin like making balloons pop.
To do all things I want to do I hope I have the time We never know how long we have At least I wrote this rhyme.

Author’s Note
One of my closest friends passed away unexpectedly this weekend. His wife had been away for two days, and sadly arrived home to find her husband deceased.
This was a complete shock to me, and has made me contemplate my own mortality. We never know when the sand in our hour glass may run out, so need to try and do as much as we can while we can.
