THE TEN COMMANDMENTS ACCORDING TO THE WISDOM OF KABBALAH

The Ninth Commandment

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

In its original context, this commandment prohibited giving false testimony in court. In ancient Israel, truthful witnesses were essential for justice because someone’s life, freedom, property, or reputation could depend on their testimony.

Keeping the Ninth Commandment includes speaking truthfully, even when it is difficult, correcting false information rather than spreading it, refusing to make false accusations, and being honest in business, school, and personal relationships.

Breaking the Ninth Commandment includes lying, perjury, slander and false accusations, gossip that unfairly harms someone’s reputation, and deliberately deceiving others for personal gain.

The wisdom of Kabbalah explains that breaking this commandment creates completely new conditions in the world and risks distorting the entire harmony between the forces of the world.

Kabbalah goes on to say that the Creator is the purpose. We can only attune ourselves to Him through our society. Therefore, if I bear false witness against my neighbor, then I move myself away from the Creator.

Therefore, harmony in the world can be restored only by practicing loving others as ourselves.
