Du’a at Dawn

Before the first adhan broke the silence of morning, she was already awake. Not because she wanted to be. Because mothers rarely belong to sleep alone.

The prayer mat knew her worries.

The darkness knew her tears.

And Allah knew the names hidden within every prayer.

“Ya Allah,” she whispered.

“Bgan ka ko wata akn So una piyagni akn”

Grant my child what I once prayed for.

No audience heard it.

No one applauded.

But come each dawn, she returned to the same conversation.

A mother speaking to her Lord about a future she might never see.

Outside, the world remained asleep.

Inside, a destiny was being prayed into existence.
