We Got Featured in Inc42’s “AI Startups To Watch.” Here’s the Story Behind the Story.

How a 16-month-old startup from Noida ended up alongside India’s emerging AI infrastructure builders — and why that matters for 250 million students.

On June 15, 2026, Inc42 — India’s most-read startup media platform — published the ninth edition of its monthly “AI Startups To Watch” series. Five companies made the list. We were one of them.

The other four are building infrastructure for enterprise AI, BFSI voice agents, and autonomous cybersecurity operations — the kind of “AI as an execution layer” companies that dominate headlines right now.

We’re the only one building for a 14-year-old trying to understand the human heart for her Class 9 Biology exam.

That contrast is the whole story.

What Inc42 Said

Here’s how their team described YoLearn.ai, independently verified through their own research:

“Founded in 2025 by Kirti Prakash Mishra and Vishal Kashyap, YoLearn.ai is building an AI tutoring platform focused on India’s competitive exam ecosystem, including JEE, NEET, CBSE, ICSE and CUET preparation. Students can ask doubts through voice in 22 Indian languages, while the AI tutor responds in real time, generates diagrams through a live sketchpad and adapts explanations based on a student’s learning progress.”

They highlighted four things as our core differentiators:

  • Voice-first tutoring across 22 Indian languages
  • A persistent “Learner Memory Graph” tracking student progress
  • Curriculum-aligned responses for Indian exams
  • AI tutor personas modelled on popular educators

And the numbers they cited, independently:

  • 100,000+ app downloads
  • 10,000+ monthly active users
  • Zero paid marketing
  • Selected for NVIDIA’s Inception Programme
  • Operating in a market projected to reach $1.15B by 2033, growing at 37.1% CAGR

Why “Learner Memory Graph” Is the Line That Matters Most

Of everything in that feature, the phrase that stuck with me is “Learner Memory Graph.”

We didn’t pitch it that way. Inc42’s editorial team looked at what we built and named it themselves. That’s the moment you realize you’ve built something legible — something that makes sense to an outsider without you explaining it five times.

Here’s what it actually means in practice:

A student named Arush, Grade 9, CBSE, in Pune, calls his AI tutor — Ms. Pooja Singh, our AI persona for General Science. He has a doubt about microorganisms. She draws a bacterial cell on a live sketchpad while explaining. Next session, when he calls about the circulatory system, the AI already knows: this student struggled with cell structure last week — reinforce foundational biology vocabulary before introducing new terms.

That’s the Learner Memory Graph. It’s not a chatbot with no memory. It’s a tutor that gets to know you.

The Coaching Problem We’re Actually Solving

India’s coaching industry generates tens of thousands of crores annually. Families spend ₹50,000 to ₹1.5 lakh a year on JEE/NEET coaching. But here’s what nobody says out loud:

In a 3-hour coaching session, the actual personalised learning — a student getting individual attention, having their specific doubt addressed — is roughly 20 to 30 minutes. The rest is commute, waiting, and a lecture paced for the average student in a batch of 60.

You pay for 3 hours. You learn for 20 minutes.

We built YoLearn.ai because that math doesn’t work for 250 million students. An AI tutor that’s voice-first, remembers you, draws diagrams live, and costs ₹4 a minute (heading to ₹1) isn’t a replacement for human teachers — it’s the thing that makes personalised attention available to families who could never afford Kota.

Why This Matters Beyond the Headline

Three things changed the moment Inc42 published this:

1. Third-party validation compounds. A month ago, Google’s AI Overview started citing us for “AI tutor with sketchpad,” “AI tutor for NEET,” and “voice AI tutor India.” Now Inc42 — read by every investor, journalist, and founder in India’s startup ecosystem — has independently verified our traction. These signals build on each other.

2. We’re now discoverable by people who don’t search for AI tutors. Inc42’s readership includes investors scanning for emerging categories, school administrators researching edtech partners, and journalists building broader narratives about AI in India. This feature puts us in front of all three.

3. It’s proof that bootstrapped, product-led growth still works in India. 100K downloads and 10K MAU with zero paid marketing, in a market where competitors have raised ₹35–40 crore, is not a small thing. Inc42 noticing it — unprompted — is the kind of signal that’s very hard to manufacture.

What’s Next

We’re in the middle of a seed raise. We’re running pilots with schools — including Seth Anandram Jaipuria Schools in Kanpur and Hamirpur. We’re building the next generation of the product: a fully adaptive Personalised Learning OS with diagnostic testing, individual learning paths, and parent progress reports.

But mostly, we’re just going to keep building for students like Arush — because the best validation isn’t a media feature. It’s a 14-year-old saying his AI tutor “felt like the tutors were actually there.”
