One common thing amongst millennials is the urge for what they call cruise. It comes in no particular format. While many serve as escapes from life-troubling reality, some come in an unhealthy enterprise which puts lives in peril. In the wake of the amorous revelation about the escapade of girls and dogs in Lekki, a young lady fiddled with 14yrs jail term. Where that lies in the above classification depends on your imagination.

Unlike the fourteen-years-jail-term prospect who took what we call about turn,in the local parlance, when it dawned on her she might be in for a hog, the Nigerian political class seems unrepentant in its stride to extend the frontiers of cruise beyond the scope of the post-99, pleasure-seeking, fun-numbed revelers.

For weeks the presidential race has witnessed a lot of cruise. Many were called, some were forced and others were sued. Very few aspirants have grown the comb to own up to their ambitions. Every politician with his own pattern of cruise.

The Goodluck Ebele Jonathan cruise-ship started like a slow coach. Whoever thought of the whirlwind it has assumed, after seeing the lots who staged a protest at his office, would be burnt at the stake days ago. But as at this morning, some of our brothers who benefited from Jonathan’s five-years Amajirinci government have put a life to it. A form has been purchased in his name. We are waiting for him to come put a spin or clarity to that. Though his pilgrimages to Aso Rock after office had been fingered in some quarters, the term of his relationship with the APC remains a myth. Is he a member of the APC; or Is the APC presidential form also for sale to none member?The coming days should help us in that regard. I just hope he would be rational to put God out of this.

Ahmed Lawan too isn’t without his best. His acknowledgement is scholastic in the invocation of divinity at creating buy-ins in the minds of followers. He did it when working surreptitiously to become the senate president. Therefore when he went about his trade at a Sallah feast that “God will direct his path”, it was quite discernible that a ruse was at the offing. Today he is in the ring docking and parrying in a quick reminder of Mohammed Ali, the great Ali. But unlike Ali renowned for his bravery, the senate president is too timid to own up to his balls. He needed third parties to purchase his form. Our God doesn’t give glory to gutless men. Indeed His stake in the affairs of men cuts across every sphere of existence, he is not given to the designs of men. He neither play pool nor carry odds like the 100-million-form purchasers.

Relatively, Godwin Emiefele plumbs the depth. I almost didn’t believe my ears at a court proceeding this morning. The Central Bank of Nigeria governor, after whimpering on Twitter a day earlier, is seeking to keep the plum at the CBN while taking a shot at the presidency. Where is this saying again? — I’m flabbergasted! That’s unprecedented in a country with a president. That the renowned lawyer Mike Ozokhome is leading the hunt to forestall impunity speaks to the height of this pandemic. In Nigeria, like they say on the street, everything na cruise.
