A Singular Idea, Expanding Like a Ripple

Ripple Effects

It all started with a single sample jacket manifested by Reude. A jacket that carried every single spark of the collection’s concept. A jacket, that so complex that not a single local vendor was capable to producing it. We took the layered lines displayed on that piece and iterated them into a bigger design philosophy.

From that single focus point, other ideas began to grow. A reaction born from dialogue, responses spreading. A singular idea, expanding intuitively like a ripple. The concept gained weight, context, and structural integrality until it became something too big and too valuable to ignore.

It’s true what they say: when two visions interact, they don’t just meet. They react, blend, expand, and mutate. They birth an idea that could never have been achieved in isolation or solitude mode. Through this project, we experienced how a single idea can grow exponentially, fueled entirely by continuous curiosity and dialogue.

The Sacred Process: Dialogue

Since the first studio of the design school, we have taught a lot about the dialogue. Between ourselves and the things around us, or between ourselves and the materials, or even between ourselves and our intuitions. True dialogue is a sacred, almost magical space, because it requires the temporary absence of ego. It is the ultimate playground for freedom of thinking and unrestricted playground.

To sum up the journey, here’s a quick look at how the workflow goes.

The curved, sweeped panels on the upper directly mirror the core design language of complex Reude’s jacket construction. The overlapping leather and nylon create an organic, dynamic line that responds to the flow from the heel to the toe box. Gives the legasi silhouette a sense of motion, even when static. Capturing the idea of the “ripple effect”.

For a dialogue to be magical, the space between the thinkers must be absolutely free of judgment. This freedom allows thoughts to exist in their fluid, chaotic states before they solidify into solid form. We are allowed to think poorly, radically, and brilliantly all at once. In other words, it’s basically a safe space for the crazy people.

Monologue or the design process that always kept entirely solitary and internalized. Usually came up with a false sense of novelty. The novelty that only works inside our specific echo chamber. It’s like a bubble effect, popping up in isolation, the ideas that stay separated from the rest of reality. Because monologues tend to follow predictable, follows the linear story based our existed biases. Dialogue, break those Constantinople walls.

The interaction of ideas on dialogue breaks the walls of the expected. When a vision shared, the listener reflects it back through their own taste, reference, preferences, and experiences, forcing the idea to make a big conceptual leap. We aren’t just looking at a static state for this jacket or the shoes, but at a negative space, culture, and future around those things. This shift carried the design from a solitary echo chamber to an expansive living process.

This collaborative dialogue is the fascinating output of intellectual freedom, proving that powerful thought cannot be contained in a single mind. The magical things happen on the spaces between intuitive ideas and curious dialogue. This shoe design has the exact form of the dialogue that allowed a single, complex idea to gather the weight context needed to grow and mature enough to become reality.
