The Fascist’s Rhumba.
The Black Shirts came to power in 1922 and declared that under their leader, Benito Mussolini , fascism would be the official ideology in Italy. The effects of the ideology began to erupt in every corner of the nation with propaganda taking on a strong romance with music in the form of the Giovezza anthem. The song became the fascist’s anthem, whose lyrics over praised the regime and closed their eyes to the woes that it inflicted on the Italians and its contribution to the Second World War.
If you glorify fascism and speak about the advantages that only the mainstream writes about and proceed to ignore the human rights abuse, you are the lead dancer in this African rhumba.

Nigeria may be in a sensual dance with fascism.
This article is not pointing towards any form of music being the vehicle for any fascist move but the nation as a whole, aggressively swaying its hips towards fascist movements with its propagators on the Mainstream media who would drum the support of the government even if they were severing the heads of their opponents and serving them for breakfast. Even if.
The Nigerian state is gradually crawling into the ball of fascist actions, not necessarily the ideology because we may not have a fixed ideology on anything, anything at all. How does a government come into power and everything takes a downward toll, people ask questions and they are being pushed down and trampled upon? How does a corper speak about the harrowing life she has been forced to live as an adult in Nigeria and every other person is crying at their misfortunes, cursing her for daring to speak against the beloved government? How were the allegations meted out against the Senate President swept under the carpet only to be flimsily addressed by the woman who said she’s older and wiser than the complainant ? A society where no one is accountable is a society on a steep decline. A society where one does not realise anymore, how much of themselves they have lost.
The Slippery slope system is really glaring to Nigerians who care bout Nigeria and even as much as the system checks out on misdemeanors yet, it works in calling out basic stupidity. First, we told Nigerian youths that it was okay to see on their hands and not have cars even if they could work for it because it was out of their means (This is not glorifying yahoo or nefarious money making schemes or those who were genuinely living outside their means), it is just calling out the fact that people got used to a society of mediocrity that even buying eggs now, is considered living out of one’s means. How else do you describe that people’s businesses crashed because of the policies that change with each government, people are losing their lives and dreams to the government and yet, they do not know when it would end. Worse still? The government does not explain anything to you and if you want a press conference, ask Seun Okinbaloye to interview Bayo Onanuga anytime the dollar prices go up.
Maybe the Fascists’ Rhumba as a title doesn’t do justice to this piece, maybe it does and maybe you are part of the problem.
Nigeria is in your hands, hold it tight.
How?
