Week 1 of Learning to Play Go
167 mini games (2–5 moves each)… 3 Books …and 7 essays later,
I am deep in the Dunning-Kreuger effect.
AI (Chat GPT) has convinced me that my aspirations of integrating research, writing and reflection within the study and play of Go is not only possible but “beautiful”.
Go as the mirror of the mind (source not confirmed yet) and I am all for it!
The short-term goals:
- Memory Craft. utilizing mnemonics to memorize the board and 1 full-length professional game.
- Setting up a system that will allow me to use Go as a “thinking lab”
- To lose 1000 games as fast as possible
I don’t have aspiration for greatness in the game of Go, but my still limited exposure has given me some basis for pursuing its depths, in the hopes that growth here will translate into growth in business, in learning and in life.
Given the advent of AI and the long history of Weiqi (as they call it in China), the fantasy is to get good enough at the game to translate real-life problems into its analog within Go.
