A sliver of hope

Too dark and claustrophobic

You hear the thunder raging

Your leg is stuck, can’t move

You fall into an abyss of hopelessness

Not knowing what to do.

Another thunder rolls in

And you realise,

The storm is slowly fading away

There is a door, a gateway

You scramble, reaching the escape

And run, wherever it leads.

Away from the storm and anguish.

The path seems long,

You see more doors, and run more,

Until you see the stretch of land.

The scent of petrichor hits you,

As you see the storm fade away.

Gratitude fills your heart, at the sliver of hope,

That life threw at you.
